Principal Strategy: Planning for Homeless Students

At Chicago’s Morton Elementary School, 30 percent of students are classified as homeless, living in shelters, in shared housing or without a roof over their head, all transient living situations that create challenges to regular student attendance.  Peggy Burnett, EdD Urban Education Leadership ’13 and Morton principal, discusses strategies she implements with classroom teachers to provide for the educational needs of homeless students.
