Bowen High School, led by EdD Urban Education Leadership student and principal Nia Abdullah, partners with its community in a school improvement practice known as Data-in-a-Day (DIAD).  Using the Center’s Data-in-a-Day protocol, Bowen invites students, parents, teachers, and community members to take a snapshot of teaching and learning across the entire school.  Afterwards, students review the data and provide feedback to teachers.  Teachers use this feedback to further their commitment to intrinsic motivation and academic achievement for students from all cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

This is part of a set of professional learning experiences for teachers and principals facilitated by the Center that interrupt deficit thinking about students and families and creates highly motivating classrooms in culturally diverse schools.
