On November 2, 2022, CUEL Associate Steve Tozer gave a virtual keynote presentation and interactive workshop to a national group of principals convened by the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP). The presentation, “The Centrality of Leadership in Quality P-3 Education: Leading the Conversations that Matter,” focused on early childhood education and school leadership as two high-leverage elements for improving equity in education, particularly in P-3 settings.  This was a session linked to the 2021 edition of the NAESP /National P-3 Center volume, Leading PreK-3 Learning Communities:  A Principal’s Guide to Early Learning and the Early Grades.  Steve served as consultant to this third edition, after the first two editions were used regularly in the UIC Ed.D. Program.  On October 18, Steve had given a similar keynote to the National P-3 Center in San Diego to selected teams of early childhood leaders from a dozen states, including district and state superintendents.
