Principals are the key to dramatic changes inside the nation’s public schools, Center Director Steve Tozer told a group of education writers from across the nation May 17. Speaking at the 2012 Education Writers Association conference in Philadelphia Pa., Tozer explained how the actions great leaders take translate to success among teachers and students alike. Tozer represented UIC and the Center on a panel called What About Principals?,  which aimed to show reporters  how researchers are documenting the skills principals need to be powerful instructional leaders, even as reformers build new pipelines to grow the supply.
