What is the best predictor of a student's likelihood to graduate from high school?  Not test scores, not previous grades, not attendance, not socioeconomic status or family income.

According to research, a student's positive outcomes in ninth grade is the clearest indicator of their future success in high school.  At CPS George Washington High School, principal Kevin Gallick, EdD Urban Education Leadership '13, is leading teachers in building interventions for freshman students identified as at-risk to ensure their success.  His work was profiled by NPR's Marketplace Morning Report:
